What can I expect from teeth whitening?

A brighter smile can be life changing, with its ability to help boost self-esteem and confidence. Teeth whitening is a safe and cost effective solution to improve the overall appearance of your smile. As well as offering long lasting results, treatment options are minimally invasive and practical.

Natural tooth discoloration over time is common, particularly when there is cumulative exposure to tea, coffee, curry, red wine, and tobacco.

At Daisy Aesthetics we use White Dental Beauty tooth whitening gels to help brighten your smile. These whitening gels are designed to be used with custom-fit whitening trays, which we will make to fit precisely over your teeth. This allows the gel to come into contact with the surface of the teeth. After we have explained how to use the whitening gel and trays, you can whiten your teeth in the comfort of your own home.

We are able to offer different strengths of whitening gel, depending on factors such as how sensitive your teeth are and how much time you have to whiten your teeth.

Teeth Whitening FAQs

What is the difference between whitening products I can buy over the counter and professional whitening gel?

Over the counter products do not contain more than 0.01% hydrogen peroxide, which is considered too low to have any effect on the colour of the teeth. By contrast, a registered dental professional can sell products such as White Dental Beauty which contain or release up to 6% hydrogen peroxide, helping significantly to whiten your smile.

How long will the full teeth whitening treatment take?

This can vary depending on your starting shade. On average, treatment will take 2-4 weeks.

How many hours do I need to wear the whitening trays for?

This will vary, depending on the strength of the whitening gel used. It may be 1-2 hours of the day or it may be overnight. We will assess what will be more suitable for your needs.

How long does the whitening effect last?

Professional tooth whitening can last for many years, and with good oral care and regular hygiene visits you may not have to re-whiten. However, top-ups are available if you want to keep your smile at its brightest. To maintain a bright, white smile, avoid foods and drinks that make your teeth susceptible to staining.

Will tooth whitening damage my teeth?

The effect of a total bleaching treatment on enamel is the equivalent to one carbonated drink.

Am I eligible for teeth whitening?

You need to be 18 or over to have tooth whitening. Your teeth and gums will need to be healthy, this will be checked during your initial consultation.Teeth whitening won’t lighten the colour of any crowns, bridges, veneers, fillings or dentures. We will help guide you on your suitability for teeth whitening during your initial consultation. It is best to delay tooth whitening of you are pregnant, breastfeeding or undergoing fertility treatment. This is because there are currently no existing studies to suggest that it’s safe.

Who can provide teeth whitening?
In the UK, teeth whitening can only be safely and legally offered by registered dental professionals. Products used by non-dental professionals, are illegal and can be unsafe.
